Symptoms in Viatza

Table of Contents

The Symptoms section helps you understand how symptoms change over time.

Instead of isolated notes, Viatza keeps symptom history in a timeline with context so preparing for appointments becomes much easier.

Open the Symptoms Screen

To get to this screen:

  • Open Home for the patient you want to work on
  • In Browse, tap Symptoms

All symptom data shown here belongs to the currently selected patient.

The screen shows a greeting to a user named John, an upcoming dental appointment with Dr. Maya Patel, a record symptom section indicating a mild headache, and a log of medications taken, including Vitamin D3 and Cetirizine, alongside navigation options for medications and symptoms.

Why This Section Matters

Symptom tracking is most useful when each record includes enough detail to be meaningful later.

In Viatza, symptom records can include:

  • Intensity
  • Notes
  • Images
  • Tags
  • A time interval

This gives you a clearer story over days and weeks, not just one-off entries.

Add or Open a Symptom

From the Symptoms list, you can:

  • Open an existing symptom to review its timeline and records
  • Add a new symptom through search when it is not already in your list
A mobile app screen displaying symptoms tracked over the past 7 and 30 days, including 'Headache', 'Runny Nose', 'Heartburn', and 'Lower Back Pain', with severity levels and timestamps.

Edit or Delete a Symptom

You can rename a symptom at any time from the symptoms list.

  • Swipe left on a symptom and choose Rename to update its name
  • A symptom can only be deleted when it has no records
  • To delete, use Edit in the list and remove it, or swipe left and tap Delete

Symptom Timeline and Records

Each symptom combines two connected views:

  • A timeline chart for quick pattern visibility
  • A record list for precise event-level history

Use the timeline to spot trends first, then use the list to inspect details.

You can switch the timeline interval to:

  • Weekly
  • Monthly
  • 6 months
  • Yearly

You can also long press on the timeline, wait for haptic feedback, then drag to select a custom range.

Add or Edit a Symptom Record

You can add a record by tapping the plus button in the symptom record list or from the symptom record picker.

When adding or updating a record, you can fill in:

  • Intensity: How strong the symptom feels at that time
  • Date/Time Interval: When the symptom happened and how long it lasted
  • Privacy Setting: How visible this entry is in shared or on-screen contexts
  • Notes: Extra context like triggers, changes, or follow-up observations
  • Attachments: Photos or supporting images relevant to the record
  • Tags: Labels that make filtering and search easier later
