Medications and Supplements in Viatza

The Medications section is where planning and real-life tracking come together.

You can define schedules, set reminders, and log what was actually taken so your history reflects reality, not just intention.


Open the Medications Screen

To get to this screen:

  • Open Home for the patient you want to work on
  • In Browse, tap Medications

All medication data shown here belongs to the currently selected patient.

How This Section Is Organized

Medications & Supplements keeps everything in one place:

  • A day carousel with progress indicators so you can move between days quickly
  • A Log area for doses that are due now or coming soon
  • A Logged area for doses that have already been recorded or adjusted
  • Your active medication list with clear schedule status
  • Extra controls like Archive and Options for long-term maintenance

Add a Medication or Supplement

Tap Add Medication or Supplement, then complete the core fields:

  • Image: A visual reference to help you identify the right item faster
  • Name: The medication or supplement name saved in your records
  • Display Name: A shorter or friendlier name shown in lists and reminders
  • Private Setting: Controls how visible this medication is in shared or on-screen contexts
  • Website: A trusted link to product information or prescription details, also used when sharing
  • Notes: Extra context such as dosage instructions, side effects, or brand details
  • Tags: Labels that make filtering and search easier across your records

After that, continue to schedule setup.

Set Schedule and Reminder Behavior

Viatza supports the most common schedule patterns:

  • Every day
  • Cyclical schedule
  • Specific weekdays
  • Every few days
  • As needed

You can also choose how you want to be notified based on urgency:

  • Notification for standard reminders
  • Alarm for louder, time-sensitive reminders
  • Critical Alert for urgent reminders that should not be missed

Medication Details

The medication detail screen is the control center for one medication.

From here you can:

  • Review today’s dose logs
  • Edit the current schedule
  • Update medication details
  • Archive or unarchive the medication
  • Delete the medication and all related logs

Dose Timeline

The dose timeline gives you a quick view of taken and skipped doses.

You can switch the timeline interval to:

  • Weekly
  • Monthly
  • 6 months
  • Yearly

You can also select a specific range by long pressing on the timeline until you feel haptic feedback, then dragging to the range you want.

Log Doses

You can log doses from multiple places, depending on what is fastest in the moment:

  • A medication dose row in Today’s Log from Home, Medications, or the medication detail screen
  • As-Needed Dose when you take something outside the regular schedule
  • A long press on a medication dose notification for quick actions
  • Existing logs in the medication detail screen to edit time, amount, notes, or images

In medication detail, the log list at the bottom reflects the currently visible or selected timeline range.

This keeps daily tracking flexible while preserving accurate history.

Medication Dose Notifications

A medication dose notification is scheduled with the dose information and the medication name.

Medication Reminder Notification

When you tap the notification, Viatza opens the dose logging screen so you can confirm Taken or Skipped.

The same interaction is available on Apple Watch.

You can also long press a notification to quickly:

  • Log as Taken
  • Log as Skipped
  • Snooze for 10 minutes

Medication Dose Alarm

You can enable an alarm for medication reminders.

At scheduled times, it rings like a system alarm and shows the medication title.

It can still alert you even when Do Not Disturb is enabled.

Medication Dose Critical Alert

For high-priority medications that must be taken at a specific time, use Critical Alert.

Critical alerts are designed for immediate attention and continue until you interact.

Like regular notifications, you can quickly log or snooze from the alert.

They can also alert you when Do Not Disturb is enabled.


Archive or Delete Medication

When you archive a medication, it and its logs are removed from your main active views.

You can archive a medication from:

  • The medication detail screen (bottom actions)
  • The full medications list

You can also permanently delete a medication and all related logs at any time.

Options

In Options, you can set the default notification type.

That default is automatically applied when you create a new medication schedule, so setup is faster and more consistent.

Import from Apple Health

If you already track medications in Apple Health, you can import supported medications and logs into Viatza.

To start, open Settings and go to HealthKit.
